Lehrinhalte: This course will give an introduction to effective theories and the physics of many-body systems, with special attention to modern concepts and to applications ranging from cold atoms to nuclei, neutron stars and condensed matter systems. Outline: 1. Principles of low-energy effective theories 2. Effective field theory 3. Renormalization and universality 4. Connection to cold-atom phenomenology 5. Many-body basics for fermions 6. Review of second quantization 7. Path integrals and many-body partition function 8. Perturbation theory, Feynman rules and applications 9. Superconductivity, BCS theory and Nambu-Gorkov formalism 10. Many-body methods for strongly interacting systems
Literatur: Will be provided in the lecture.
Voraussetzungen: Quantum Mechanics, Statistical Physics, and Advanced Quantum Mechanics. Nuclear Theory is recommended, but not necessary.
