Course Contents:
The content of the lecture are special concretes with properties such as ultra-high strength concrete, fibre concrete, self-compacting concrete, foam and lightweight concrete, underwater concrete as well as mass and architectural concrete. These materials are presented with respect to their basic ingredients, mix designs, fresh and hardened concrete properties and their application possibilities. In addition, the lectures contain exercises and laboratory work. In the exercises, mix designs for selected special concretes will be developed and the concretes will be mixed by the students themselves, as part of the laboratory work.
As part of the study exercise, students will work on a project. First they will present their designs for a predefined concrete object in small groups. Then the selected designs are further developed and, finally, produced by the students themselves. At the end of the semester, a report on the project work has to be submitted and the course concludes with an excursion.
