Students will understand basic concepts and the purpose of cost accounting. Three steps of cost accounting will be presented: cost-type accounting, cost-unit accounting and cost-centre accounting. In addition, an overview of modern systems of cost accounting, e.g. direct costing and planned cost calculation, as well as on operating income statement and breakeven analysis will be provided. Exercises will be offered and discussed during the course to enhance the comprehension.
