This lecture overviews technical application and service management. As a fundamental aspect the range of related management areas and functions can be considered. Those, besides the basics of IT service management, are got across with a special view on engaged instruments.

Official Course Description:
Within a holistic view on application systems and by considering increasing heterogeneity of systems and the complexity of processes, systematics to allocate different management functions are available. After introducing application systems, various management approaches are provided in this lecture and a distinction between internal and external application management is introduced. As a major topic the IT service management will be discussed. The main intention of this lecture is to get a well-founded overview of management areas related to application systems. Also a view into practical projects concerning IT service management will help to understand the topic and its relevance.
