Course Contents:
The aim of this lecture is to reveal future requirements that successful production companies will be expected to fulfill, and to describe the information and communication technology methods that can be used to meet these requirements.
Initially, the impact of modern information technology on the productivity of entire industries is illustrated. Based on the key elements and target figures of a production process, the necessary communication technology and information technology tools to achieve these figures are subsequently described. The lecture then goes on to present modern quality concepts and explain ensuing IT requirements in the product development process. Taking the example of the automotive industry, global production networks are discussed and systems for production planning and control are explained. The prerequisites for successfully applying information technology in the fields of capacity management, cooperation with suppliers and logistics are described in detail using examples from various industrial sectors. The lecture will be held partly in English.
