Course Contents:
Latin I is the first part of a 2-semester Latin course covering classical Latin, which forms the basis of a thorough familiarity with Latin sources in every situation. The first course introduces students to the basics of morphology (e.g. case, gender, number) and syntax. The textbook material is comprised of simplified original texts. As well as the grammatical features of Latin, students will also learn about typical Roman cultural and literary features. Latin I ends with lesson 14, with students writing two tests, both of which must be passed in order to pass the course. Please keep in mind that a university-leveel latin course is very time-intensive. Students must be prepared to a fair amount of preparation before and after lessons, and regular memorizing of vocabulary and grammar rules in order to pass the course.
