Attention: In order to take part in the physics lab classes a separate registration under: www.physik.tu-darmstadt.de/grundpraktikum is absolutely mandatory!
Corresponding to the experimental nature of physics students will perform experiments on basic issues from the fields of mechanics, thermodynamics, optics, nuclear physics and electricity and magnetism. The subject matter of these experiments will be communicated at the beginning of each term and is closely related to that of the undergraduate lectures syllabus, though not necessarily synchronized with it. Students therefore will have to acquire the knowledge required to perform their experiments mainly by their own initiative. Informations on how to proceed can be found in the instructions to the experiments, which can be downloaded from the internet. Relevant textbooks as well as collections of special literature for many of the experiments are provided by the library. Further information on extent and procedure of the physics laboratories can also be found at the URL. Note that sufficient language skills in German are required to participate!
Literature:
see instructions for each experiment at http://www.physik.tu-darmstadt.de/grundpraktikum
Preconditions:
Solid school knowledge of physics and prior attendance of the respective lecture on experimental physics are required.
