Course Contents:
This course will focus on the relationship between social justice and education. We will explore some contemporary theories of social justice in connection with various different approaches to education, and observe and discuss ways in which educational policies can play a role in reproducing, widening or reducing inequalities in society. We will also consider the tension between difference and equality in relation to different identities such as gender, ethnicity and sexual orientation, while reflecting on their role in decisions regarding educational practice and policy.
