Course Contents: Computer and software can support us in many different ways in mathematical work. Using the software Maple we will study in this class and the accompanying tutorials various possible applications of software in mathematics. On the other hand we will also discuss its limitations and necessary prerequisites. Software can support us both with symbolic computations like computing the derivative of a function in one unknown and numerical computations like computing the value of a function at a given value for its variable. We will discuss both variants using concrete questions from the classes in linear algebra and calculus, like - differentiation and integration - limits and series - systems of linear equations and matrix arithmetic. We will also discuss visualization and implement own programs in Maple. You can practise the presented methods in the tutorials.
