Course Contents:
The course covers stratetgic planning models of the logistics function. The focus of the course will be on the determination of production capacities, the determination of optimal facility locations and facility layouts as well as the design of supply chains. As decision problems in these areas are often associated with high investments, supporting the investment decision with planning models may improve the cost position of the company significantly. The course thus dicusses quantitative planning models that support the decision problems mentioned above. After finishing this course, students are able to model planning problems that arise in production and inventory systems and to derive decision support for practical applications.
