Course Contents:
Physics research was and continues to be a fundamental basis of defense an security research (from quantum cryptography to kinetic weapons). With the event of so-called "social media" which eventually encourage antisocial behavior and the spread of fake-news, new attack vectors and defense mechanisms shape the security-related discourse.
In this seminar we will read physics papers, mainly in the areas of network analysis, time series analysis, and population models, that describe the spread of, e.g., diseases and rumors, as well statistical mechanics papers that apply mathematical-physical modeling to such questions.
Bonus (eventuell, noch nicht sicher): we will have a work-shop on physical mechanisms of property protection and how to use mechanical tools to overcome them.
