Course Contents:
The course will provide the basics of experimental physics:

- Classical mechanics: statics and dynamics
- Thermodynamics: gases, liquids and solids
- Waves and acoustics
- Electrodynamics
- Light and optics
- Structure of matter: quantum physics, atoms, molecules and nuclei

The topics will be illustrated with biology-relevant examples.

Literature:
Any textbook of a basic experimental physics course can be used.

  • Davidovits: Physics in Biology and Medicine

can be recommended as companion for this lecture.

Preconditions:
Basic knowledge of mathematics desirable ...
