In this lecture, students deepen the strategic aspects of technology and innovation management. For the reason of more complex technologies, increasing development times and shorter technology life cycles, technology management increasingly represents a core discipline that is critical to competition. The growing danger of disruption and the special status of radical innovations also require special strategic consideration. In this lecture, students learn the theoretical tools to meet these challenges in a turbulent firm environment. In addition, the theoretical knowledge will be applied and further developed by means of practical lectures and case studies. Thematic focuses of this lecture include the management of disruptive and radical innovations, the organizational ambidextry, technology foresight and strategies in technology management. Furthermore, the topic of open innovation is an important part of this lecture.
Note that this lecture must be combined with "Innovation Behavior", which is offered in the second half of the semester - both lectures are necessary components of the module "Advanced Technology and Innovation Management" and cannot be examined individually.
