Official Course Description:
This seminar focuses on linguistic discourse analysis using digital methods of corpus linguistics.
We will first discuss theories and approaches of discourse linguistics. Then we will work with different methodological approaches. These include the criteria for the development of appropriate corpora. The spectrum of analytical methods we will discuss includes those that primarily investigate the frequency and distribution of certain linguistic units, such as the analysis of keywords and collocations, but also more interpretative-hermeneutic procedures, e.g. semantic and pragmatic annotation.
