Course Contents:
The module provides the basic mathematical background for computational modeling and analysis in the context of synthetic biology. Basic mathematical concepts are reviewed to provide a common ground to all students.


  • Fundamentals of vector calculus and linear algebra
  • Fundamentals of multivariate optimization
  • Fundamentals of deterministic dynamical systems
  • Fundamentals of probability theory and multivariate statistics
  • Fundamentals of stochastic dynamical systems
  • Application of concepts in the modeling and analysis case studies
