Digitale Lehre: Our class on global climate politics will take place from next Monday on and as of today until 01.06. will be an online class only. This will be a challenge for all of us, particularly as we are almost 40 participants who have signed up for the class. The class will sometimes be a bit of a mess and we will also be witness to internet problems etc... But I am sure with some patience on all sides, we manage! Offizielle Kursbeschreibung: The seminar provides an overview of global climate politics. After reviewing the scientific evidence on climate change, we focus on the evolution of the international climate regime complex, the Paris Agreement of 2015, and its development since. Inter alia we discuss the role of states, NGOs, the business community and the importance of the global South. In the third part of the seminar climate change experiments and innovations are being analyzed (markets, forest protection, cities) before we come to the future of climate change politics where we debate security issues, the chances of low carbon development and of climate engineering as well as of post-humanism. Finally, we focus on the role of the discipline of International Relations and compare different approaches to global climate politics.
