Lehrinhalte:
The lecture introduces key terms and concepts, such as invention, patent, innovation, management, project management and related subjects. A subsequent discussion of critical factors for successful innovation management and various concepts such as open innovation and collaboration are discussed. A huge portion of the lecture deals with the subject of an idea, including generation, evaluation and selection of ideas within the context of an innovation management system in a [typically large] corporation. Hereby, creativity techniques such as Brainstorming, Brainwriting or Visual Confrontation are introduced in detail.
Some emphasis is put on the subject of (project) management in general and R&D management in particular.
Innovation management is discussed at various abstraction levels: from the low-level, very practical description of how to generate an idea and attempt to turn it into an innovative product to high- level concepts such as organizational design and motivation in order to facilitate innovation within an organization.
Throughout the course, examples from the IT industry are used to illustrate the general concepts presented specifically suited for IT students. However, also students from other disciplines should benefit from this course since the discussed concepts are of a cross-discipline nature.
