Lehrinhalte: Einführung in Felder, Methoden und Theorien der modernen Linguistik. Die grundlegenden Gebiete der Linguistik - Phonetik und Phonologie, Morphologie, Syntax und Semantik - werden abgedeckt und zentrale Theorien in den einzelnen Gebieten eingeführt.
Literatur: Lehrmaterialen und Übungen werden über das WWW zur Verfügung gestellt unter https://moodle.tu-darmstadt.de/. Die im Verlaufe der Vorlesung behandelte Literatur ist über die Bibliotheken der TU Darmstadt zu beziehen. Als einführende Lektüre werden Kortmann 2005 und Fromkin 2010 empfohlen.
Offizielle Kursbeschreibung: This course introduces the fields, methods and terminology of modern linguistics. Beginning with phonetics and phonology, this course introduces the fields of linguistics covering morphology, syntax and semantics with the aim of giving students an overview of the scope of the discipline and to prepare them for participation in linguistics seminars. In the course of the semester, subfields of linguistics and central theories are introduced alongside the methodology employed in linguistic research. Students will gain hands-on experience in methods and techniques of linguistic data analysis. Students are expected to read the relevant literature and complete exercises and tasks practicing linguistic methodology. Students wanting a certificate must pass the final exam and submit exercises during the semester.
