Lehrinhalte: AIM: to overcome your inhibitions about speaking English and to develop your speaking skills so that you can communicate fluently and effectively in all professional situations. APPROACH: texts about new developments in science and technology initially provide the starting point for most class activities. These will include: class discussions, oral reports following small-group discussions, impromptu informal talks, two presentations (one of 5 min, the other of 8 min.). Basic aspects of public speaking will also be dealt with. Students will have the opportunity to make short oral presentations and to lead the ensuing discussion. The presentations will be evaluated by all participants, including the instructor.
Literatur: Material will be made available for a small fee.
Voraussetzungen: A score between 50 and 64 on the placement test, a good working knowledge of everyday English and familiarity with some basic terminology in your special field of study. You should also enjoy exchanging ideas orally.
