Lehrinhalte: High quality publications in science allow readers to understand experimental results and their significance easily. Producing such texts is often challenging not only for many experienced scientists, but also for students at the beginning of their careers. This course will focus on the steps in the writing process which lead to a good final product. These steps will be learned by doing a variety of writing exercises and experiments. This hands-on approach slows down the text production process and provides room for dealing with the questions which inevitably arise in the course of a writing project. In addition, writing strategies which address real problems will be presented and practised. Participants will also have the opportunity to work on their own texts and to become familiar with the norms for good written academic English.
Literatur: Handouts will be available for a small fee
Voraussetzungen: Writing experience (in English, German, or another language) relevant to your discipline (e.g. term papers, final theses, conference abstracts, research reports), fluency in English (at least 65 on the placement test), willingness to give and accept constructive criticism and to work on creative tasks. Preference will be given to students who have an ongoing writing project.
