Lehrinhalte: This course aims at giving a survey of some important theoretical and practical issues to be considered in a pragmatic translation in which the emphasis is entirely on accuracy and knowledge of the subjet, as required for much scientific research. Thus text analysis which focuses on the structure of written language, as found in specialized publications, is an essential preliminary. Assignments will include the application of strategies for identifying cohesive devices and interpreting non-finites such as gerunds and participles to enable students to describe the way the parts of a text are organized and related to one another to form a meaningful whole.
