Topics:
Behavoiur of Light metal alloys, cast iron, heat resistant steels, nickel alloys and thermal barrier coatings for high temperature regimes; microstructure mechanisms under high temperature loading conditions, estimation of specific values for component design; life time prediction of components under high temperature loading conditions
After following this lecture the student will be able to:
- specify the classes of high temperature materials, know the range of application, and describe the limits of application,
- analyse and describe the properties of the microstructure of high temperature materials as well as the mechanisms of diffusion based deformation and damage properties,
- distinguish the influence of material and production parameters on the long term behavior under high temperature loading conditions,
- describe the determination of specific values for design parameters of high temperature components. Develop of life time relevant operation limits on the basis of material behavior and loading analysis,
- evaluate the suitability of high temperature materials and joints on the bases of the analysis of the loading conditions and derive requirements of material properties and allowable loading conditions.
