Course Contents:
This course provides an introduction to modern nuclear theory. The lecture will be held in English, as all modern references are in English; questions and discussions in German are of course welcome. Two-min questions and homework problems will be designed to improve the understanding of and to explore the topics covered in the lecture.
0. Organizational matters and guiding principles
1. Introduction to nuclei and strong interactions
2. Nuclear forces: scattering and bound states
3. Effective theories for low energies
4. Many-body basics
5. Many-body methods for nuclei and nuclear matter
6. Chiral two- and three-nucleon interactions and applications to nuclei
The lectures will take place via zoom. For most lectures we will provide advance reading material before going over the material in the lecture. All lectures will be recorded and made available.
