Course Contents:
Examples for partial differential equations in applications; Elliptic problems: weak formulation; analysis of elliptic variational problems; Galerkin approximation, finite element methods, error analysis, solution of resulting linear systems; Parabolic problems: weak formulation, energy estimates, analysis; semi discretization via the Rothe method and the method of lines;
