Course Contents:
In the summer term, our seminar in experimental physics on nuclear structure and nuclear astrophysics deals with topics related to the planned facility for antiproton and ion research (FAIR) at the GSI-Helmholtz research centre for heavy-ion research. This includes accelerator and detector R&D, prototypical experiments at GSI as well as future experiments.
The actual topics will be posted in TUCaN before the start of the semester and will be distributed at the date of the first seminar.
Literature:
Original research articles and technical information will be provided by the assistants supporting the preparation of the seminar talks.
Preconditions:
Bachelor of Science in Physics including an introductory nuclear physics class.
Further Grading Information:
The actual topics with a brief description will be posted in TUCaN in the week before start of the lecture period at the latest. Based on this, you may inform us on the topics you find most interesting to study and to present. In the first seminar the topics and the supervisors will be assigned and an introduction into scientific presentation will be given.
Official Course Description:
In this seminar you will work out - in contact with a supervisor - a topic related to R&D work and/or prototype experiments at GSI for accelerators and future experiments at the planned FAIR facility. Within a 45-minute presentation, you are supposed to present the topic. During and after the presentation, ample time for discussion is foreseen. Furthermore, feedback to presentation techniques will be given.
