German Sign Language (DGS = Deutsche Gebärdensprache) is a visually perceptible natural language used by deaf people to communicate. For the communication with DGS not only hands, but also facial expressions and silently spoken words as well as the body posture are actively used. Like words and sounds in the spoken German language, gestures are combined into grammatical sentences and sentence sequences.

The offered language course DGS I teaches the basis of the German sign language as well as the international finger alphabet. The number of students is limited to 15 persons at the request of the deaf teacher. Parallel to the lessons, the teacher provides learning material, videos and other online material.
