Official Course Description:
The students can formulate decision- and sythesis problems in the framework of mathematical optimization models. Moreover, they can apply basic mathematical methods in order to determine the solution of optimization models, and they can judge the applicability of certain optimization models. The students are able to develop software of Operations Research and apply it for the optimization of technical systems. Moreover, they are able to judge the potential of the used optimization algorithms. The students transfer methods e.g. from production processes to static systems and from fluid systems to power engines. I.e. the students are able to reduce components to the function relevant features and formulate the transition from physical-technical models to mathematical optimization models containing continious and discrete variables, with the help of their Bachelor know-how.
