1. general aspects of mobile communication systems: wireless technology ositioning, services, market, standardization, architecture of mobile radio systems, e.g. GSM, UMTS and WLAN).
2. technical aspects with particular focus on the physical layer: duplex and multiple access techniques, cellular concept, mobile radio channel, deterministic and stochastic description , modulation schemes, code division multiple access (CDMA), orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), optimum and suboptimum receiver techniques, cellular radio capacity and spectrum efficiency, diversity methods, multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems, power control and handover
