Cracks : crack opening, crack bridging, R-curve, crack tip toughness and crack shielding, sub-critical crack growth and fatigue
Toughening mechanisms : micromechanics of toughening by transformation, by microcracks, by fibres, by whiskers, by particles and by ductile toughening, laminates
High temperature behaviour : creep, thermal shock, mechanics of interfaces
Hardness and wear : DIN standards and experimental techniques
Reliability : Weibull modulus and proof testing
